February 12, 2011 year is probably one of the most important dates for all trip-hop and dark-ambient fans.
On this day a double album ‘Holy Rain’ of polish project Black Glass has been released.

Black Glass‘ leader, Mirrorman, an independent musician and photographer teamed up with Idden and Lolitha (vocals/lyrics) and started the project 11 years ago.

So far, the band has recorded 4 albums (“Inside”, “Sapphiro Crimes”, “Mirranda”, “Morphine”) but none of them has been released physically.
After 4 years of recordings the new material finally landed on store shelves.
‘Holy Rain is a true music phenomenon – no similar production has appeared on the Polish market in recent years.
This exceptional character can be experienced in every detail of the project: from music, website content to visualisations, record clips and trailers – all created with great care. This project is able to draw the listener’s attention like nothing else before, and take possession of his mind for a long time.

Asked about the instruments Mirrorman replied:
“in case of Black Glass it will probably be easier to list the synths, which I did not play than the ones I used to record the music. Black Glass instrumental parts represent the story of keyboards – from Fender Rhodes, modular synthesizers, Roland, Minimoog to the latest achievements in this field”

Various inspirations melted on ‘Holy Rain’ what eventually turned the album into the material difficult to classify.
Particularly noteworthy is the free structure of the tracks.
The album consists of 36 unconventional musical tales, which play a crucial role in creating a dark, moody atmosphere that embraces the listener from the very first seconds.

‘Holy Rain’ is a double release, which apart from the original Black Glass members features many guests from around the world.
Mirrorman’s invitation has been accepted by following artists: Glaca (Sweet Noise, My Riot), American trip-hop singer She.xist, multi-instrumentalist and singer India Czajkowska, the German singer Andrea Schroeder, Polish legendary hip-hop DJ Kostek, American guitarist Tim Kruskamp and M ya, Polish alternative singer from Zerova band.

The final unique sound is a result of collaboration with Piotr Iwanek from Totalsound studios who did all the mixes and Mikołaj Bugajak (aka Noon), a legendary member of polish hip-hop squad Grammatik, who was responsible for mastering of the whole album.

After 6 years of remaining silent, Mirrorman, an independent Polish musician and photographer, has has made his return in 2010 with two mini-albums written and recorded for the purpose of prestigious photographic projects.
The first one we are presenting to you is the soundtrack to a series of photographs by Katarzyna Widmańska presenting an original look on the legendary Alice in Wonderland.
Mirrorman has written and recorded all the tracks for this album and the vocals have been performed by the female singer Idden, with whom he also brought to life a dark triphop project titled Black Glass a few years ago.

According to Mirrorman, Alice in Wonderland is an exact reflection of the nature of photographs made by Katarzyna Widmańska, who offers her own alternative vision of the adventures of Lewis Carrol’s character. The soundtrack’s compositions suprise the listener with a quiet aura as well as delicate textures. It is still about hypnotic and atmospheric phrases, unusual sounds and trans grooves, only this time around everything is presented in a way which is slightly more disconnected from the duo’s previous efforts.

As the man responsible himself has said: ‘ Musically, this record doesn’t resemble my main project, which is Mirrorman. The songs I’ve writen are in no way a compromise, though. They just present a different world, something that exists far from the turmoil of our daily life and throbs with its own hypnotic pulse. It’s a different story, different type of sensitivity, different dimension’.

As Mirrorman and Widmańska unanimously say, the sounds composed for this project have perfectly merged into the character of the visuals, emphasising their unusual message.
The album comprises 7 tracks representing each individual chapter of the novel.
